Our Ezra was born in October of 2022 in the same Maternity ward that I have worked for the past 2 years at Tenwek Hospital… Kevin asked me to recall the event here on the blog to showcase the Tenwek Maternity process.  I am writing this in the only way I know how to write these days, through dictation software.

This is the first of a series of posts that are intended to help readers be able to parse through the differences and similarities of the Kenyan and US hospitals and how that affects our daily lives. Here goes!

Many Americans can identify with a particular experience in their foreign language classes in middle and high school. We spent most of those days in class groaning like an Israelite in the wilderness.

We made it to the end of 2020. Pretty amazing to look back and see what God has done. Check out our video of the last 4 months of 2020, including our transition out of the US and into Kenya. Exciting stuff!

Well, I got tired of posting and checking Facebook all the time, so I stopped posting individual slices for a while. Here are the leftover slices that never got posted.

We spent our first month and a half in Kenya (relatively) off of social media, making an effort to focus on our family’s transition. That was a very fruitful time for us

We have heard folks from WGM quoting Proverbs 16:9 again and again, “We can make our plans, but the LORD determines our steps.”

6 am is not my favorite hour of the day. However, it is the personal favorite hour of our eldest. He likes to share his favorite things with others, so we have seen the hour of 6 am a lot recently.

CO trip is in the books. It was very good for our souls. Here are some images from the final 2 weeks.

WARNING: NERD ALERT

I have done a fair amount of work in excel in my day. Sometimes it just feels nice to hear the satisfying crunch sound a number can make.

In times of COVID I have taken on the role of “principal dad”. That’s the name my kids gave me on day one of homeschooling in late March.

One thing ends, another begins…unless it doesn’t. Oh, COVID-19.

Our 5 year old has a delightful little habit of breaking into song when he has a meaningful encounter with the great outdoors.
